Hajj flights may start from May 31: State minister

This year’s Hajj flight is likely to start from May 31, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Mahbub Ali said on Monday.

But, the decision depends upon the approval of the Saudi authorities, Mahbub Ali told reporters at a press conference at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka this noon.

Earlier in the day, the junior minister inspected at the airport talks to the concerned authorities to ensure swift and hassle free journey of the pilgrimages.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines will carry 31,000 passengers involving 75 dedicated flights while Saudi Arabian Airlines will carry the equal number of passengers.

The biggest congregation of Muslims was held being held on a limited scale for the last two years with no pilgrims outside of Saudi Arabia.

About 57,585 people will be able to perform hajj from Bangladesh this year.
