The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has handed over all documents related to PK Halder to the home and foreign ministries with an aim to bring the infamous scamster back to Bangladesh.

The ministries will use the documents — connecting PK Halder to the financial crimes he committed — to make a case for his extradition from India, an ACC official said, who preferred not to be named, told the Business Insider Bangladesh on Sunday.

Indian authorities will hand over PK Halder to Bangladesh once the sent documents prove his guilt of the financial crimes alleged by Bangladesh.

The ACC has claimed to have found a scam worth Tk 3,500 crore against PK Halder and his associates.

The ACC has so far filed 36 cases of lean scam against PK Halder and his close associates and a number of cases are in the process to be lodged.

On May 16, ACC Acting Secretary Abu Sayeed Mahbub Khan said a letter will be sent to the Bangladesh High Commission in India soon for bringing PK Halder back to the country, and communication with the Indian INTERPOL authorities is underway.

“We will also communicate with the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) to know about the wealth information of PK Halder in India. Also, we will investigate who is behind PK Halder and the financial scam,” Khan told reporters.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) of India arrested PK Haldar at Ashoknagar in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on May 14. During the raid, the ED found huge assets belonging to Halder and many important documents including land deeds.

The Indian law enforcement agencies are running investigations into how PK Haldar managed to maintain a comfortable and lavish lifestyle in India after fleeing to the neighbouring country.

Meanwhile, the ED has already released information on PK Halder’s huge assets they found so far in India.
