Amid the rising cases of the monkeypox virus, the government on Saturday directed health officials at airports, Chattogram port and land borders to keep a close watch on international travellers coming from the affected countries.

The Communicable Disease Control (CDC) unit of the Directorate General of Health Services issued the directive and sent it to the authorities concerned.

Civil Surgeons of Sylhet and other districts that have international borders have also been asked to isolate symptomatic international travellers.

Monkeypox has been detected in around a dozen countries including the USA and UK where hundreds of thousands of Bangladeshis live and study and travel to their home countries.
