Google’s search engine on Saturday features a doodle marking Bangladesh’s Independence Day, a national holiday celebrated annually in the country on March 26.
The doodle depicts a Bangladeshi flag and the Google logo on a green background.
After 24 years under the West Pakistani rule, Bangalees (then East Pakistan) launched an uprising in the late 1960s and 1970 when the ruler in the west refused to hand over power to the winning party Awami League.
With the help of foreign friends, especially India, East Pakistan achieved its independence in 1971 and was renamed Bangladesh.
