Education Minister Dipu Moni has said that the country’s all educational institutions will be reopened immediately as the case of coronavirus is on a declining trend.

The education minister said this while addressing a view exchange meeting with local leaders of the ruling Awami League at Sylhet Circuit House auditorium on Friday.

The government on February 2 extended the closure of secondary and higher secondary-level educational institutions by two more weeks until February 20, taking the country’s worsening coronavirus situation into consideration.

Earlier this morning, Dipu Moni, along with Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel and Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed went to Sylhet with a view to resolve the prevailing crisis of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).

They are scheduled to hold meetings with the students and teachers of SUST between 4pm and 7pm.

the view exchange meeting, Dipu Moni said her government is trying to solve the prevailing crisis on the SUST campus and hopes the feud will end through discussion.

The SUST students resumed their protest programme on Wednesday as their demand for removal of Vice-Chancellor Farid Uddin Ahmed was not met.

They went on the protest in the middle of January later went on fast unto death that ended on January 26 former SUST Prof Md Zafar Iqbal offered them water to drink.

The students formed a human chain on the university campus on January 19, demanding the resignation of the V-C following a police crackdown on them.
