Fire at Baridhara multi-storey building doused

A fire that broke out at a 6-storey building housing a furniture showroom in the city’s Baridhara J Block on Sunday afternoon was doused by fire-fighters.

Sources at the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters said the fire started on the 4th floor of the Vitra Furniture showroom building at 4:24pm, reports United News of Bangladesh.

Six fire-fighting units went to the spot to control the fire, said Shahjahan Sikder, DAD (Media cell) of the FSCD.

The flames were brought under control at 5:20pm and it was completely doused at 5:38pm, he said.

No casualties were reported and the cause of the fire was not immediately known, said the Fire Service official.
