Qazi Anwar Hussain, an eminent writer of the famed ‘Masud Rana” spy series, has passed away.

He died at BIRDEM General Hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon.

Qazi Anwar Hussain's daughter-in-law, Masuma Maimur confirmed the news through a Facebook post on Wednesday.

“He was diagnosed with prostate cancer on October 31 and was in life support from January 10, Maimur wrote on her Facebook post.

He was born in 1936, Anwar Hussain is famous for his spy thriller, detective and adventure-based novels.

Anwar Hussain's father was a scientist and writer, Qazi Motahar Hossain, a national professor.

He got his master's degree in Bengali literature and language from the University of Dhaka.

Qazi Anwar Hussain established Seba Prokashoni in 1963 and became a prominent publishing figure in Bangla literature.

Among many, two of his popular novel series include Masud Rana and Kuasha.
