NCC polls conclude, vote count begins

The much-talked about Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) elections closed at 4pm on Sunday without any unwanted incidents. The vote counting, however, began immediately, officials said.

Most of the franchisers experienced troubles in casting their votes as the electronic voting machines caused them difficulties.

Voters started for the polling centres early in the day while voting began at 8am and continued until 4pm without any break at 192 centres of 27 wards of the NCC.

However, some of the voters were forming queues in front of the polling centres even after 4pm to cast their votes.

According to the presiding officers, more than 50 percent votes were cast during the day, while many voters faced difficulties as the EVMs malfunctioned.
