Fingerprint mismatch frustrates NCC voters

A number of voters of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) were unable to cast their franchise on Sunday using electronic voting machines as their fingerprints mismatched.

The voters at different polling centres alleged that they failed to cast their votes as the electronic voting machine (EVM) did not accept their fingerprints.

After waiting in queue for a long time, they were compelled go back home.

Presiding officers at the polling centers expressed their helplessness in this regard. They said there is nothing they could do if the EVM does not recognise any fingerprint.

However, they were trying to clean the machines and asking voters to clean their fingers to cast votes.

A polling agent at the Fulhor primary school centre under ward 27, seeking anonymity, told the Business Insider Bangladesh that at least 10 to 15 voters returned without casting votes as their fingerprints wewre found incompatible.

Another polling agent of independent candidate Taimur Alam also raised the same issue.
