Murad Hassan sacked from Jamalpur district AL

Murad Hassan has been stripped of his health and population affairs secretary post of Jamalpur district unit of Awami League.

Jamalpur district unit Awami League took the decision during an emergency meeting on Tuesday, according to a leader of the local Awami League.

The central committee of the ruling Awami League will be conveyed the decision immediately, the source said.

State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murad Hassan has tendered resignation from his cabinet post over some objectionable remarks he made during an interview on social media recently.

During an interview on social media, the junior minister made derogatory remarks against BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his daughter Zaima Rahman.

Murad’s remarks went viral on social media and generated angers in the country’s rights groups, politicians and academicians alongside BNP leaders and activists.

“Murad emailed his resignation letter to the Cabinet Division around 1:00pm,” Gias Uddin, public relations officer of Information and Broadcasting ministry, confirmed the Business Insider Bangladesh.
