Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Md Murad Hassan to resign from the cabinet over some remarks he made during an interview.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader disclosed the development to the media on Monday in response to a question about Murad Hasan.
In a recent interview, Hasan made various comments about BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, her son Tarique Rahman and granddaughter Zaima Rahman, which received widespread criticism and many termed as indecent.
Quader said, “The matter was discussed with the Prime Minister this evening, and I will convey the message to the state minister later tonight."
Earlier on the day, the BNP demanded that the state minister apologise publicly and withdraw his “politically motivated, racial and derogatory” remarks against women and the Zia family.
