Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Monday said perpetrators involved in Rangpur arson will be brought to book.

"So far, police have detained 44 people with the help of the local people and we're trying to learn whether or not it was a motivated and planned attack. Those involved in it will be brought to justice," he said while talking to reporters at his ministerial office.

A number of miscreants carried out arson attacks on some 20-25 houses in a number of villages in Pirganj upazila on Sunday. They vandalized houses and looted valuables, the minister said.

"The Prime Minister has directed all concerned to provide necessary assistance to the victims and we'll take steps to rebuild their houses," Asaduzzaman said.

While dwelling on Cumilla temple and Hindu neighbourhood attacks, the minister claimed that the objective of the Cumilla incident was to destabilize the country, and 3-4 people involved in it have already been identified.
