The Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary Certificate examinations will be held in November and December in the country respectively, Education Minister Dipu Moni said on Saturday.

The SSC examinations will be held in the middle of November while the HSC at the beginning of December, the education minister said this while talking to reporters at a programme in Dhaka this noon.

Responding to a query over spreading the virus in educational institutions, she said “We will stop running the educational institutions if we see, there is a possibility of spreading out the virus. But such a situation has not arisen so far,” she added.

About reopening of the universities and pre-primary schools, Dipu Moni said the universities will be reopened soon but the pre-primary schools will net be reopened on the health grounds of students.

She said the pandemic of coronavirus is still on though the positivity rate of the virus declined to five percent in Bangladesh.

“We are being informed from different parts of the country that the school students are being infected with the virus and we are taking necessary measures on receipt of the information,” she said.

Since the outbreak of the virus in China in 2019, the health authority in Bangladesh confirmed the first case on March 8, 2020 and recorded the first death on March 18 in the same year.

Later, the government announced closure of all educational institutions from March 17 and extended the shutdown in phases.

As the situation improved, the government resumed the secondary and higher secondary educational institutions on September 12.
