Big projects create scopes for misuse of money, corruption: Planning minister

Planning Minister M A Mannan.

Planning Minister M A Mannan on Friday said big projects are creating opportunities for corruption, looting and misappropriation of public money.

Corruption is the key barrier in meeting the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (FIR), the minister also added.

He made these remarks while attending a shadow parliament debate competition organised by Debate for Democracy as a chief guest, said a press release.

In his speech, the minister also highlighted the corruption happening in the education sector and hi-tech parks.

He suggested that the challenges of the FIR have to be dealt with building skilled human resources through expanding education and technology vastly.

"To control corruption, this government has strengthened the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and we now must remain patient for the ACC to do its job."

Manan said he will be visiting the hi-tech parks in the country within the next week to make sure they are running properly.

Bangladesh University of Business and Technology became champion in the debate, defeating Northern University Bangladesh.
