Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has set another example of austerity by returning Tk 15 crore earmarked for her office in the budget for fiscal 2020-21 to buy motor vehicles.
Ihsanul Karim, press secretary to the Prime Minister, disclosed this in a statement circulated to journalists on Sunday.
“Prime Minister has directed the authorities concerned to spend the money for healthcare services of the people,” Karim said.
He said the prime minister has taken a number of initiatives — from recruiting physicians and health workers to developing infrastructure and capacity of hospitals and providing vaccines at a free of cost — to tackle the ongoing coronavirus.
