Bangladesh reported 51 more deaths and 1,871 infections from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning.

With this, the number of deaths from the virus reached 26,931 while 15,30,413 patients have been diagnosed with the virus so far, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Earlier on Saturday, the country reported 48 deaths from the deadly virus.

Meanwhile, the infection rate was 7.46 percent in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning. The overall infection rate in the country currently stands at 16.55 percent.

DGHS further said that 3,586 patients have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. The total number of recovered patients so far is 14,78,821.

During the last 24 hours, some 25,074 samples were tested across the country. A total of 92,46,733 samples have been tested in the country so far.

According to the Worldometer data, 225,213,074 cases of coronavirus have been detected worldwide as of Sunday afternoon. The number of deaths reached 4,640,672.

The US is the country with the most numbers of Covid-19 positive cases, followed by India, Brazil, UK, Russia and France.

Among the dead, 19 hails from the Dhaka division, while 14 are from Chattogram, 1 from Rajshahi, 9 from Khulna, 6 from Sylhet, 1 from Rangpur and 1 from Mymensingh division.

29 of the 51 dead are male while 22 are female. The majority of them died while undergoing treatment at different government and private hospitals across the country.
