Share trading at the country’s twin bourses will resume from Sunday after the Eid holidays and weekends.

However, the trading hours will be shortened from 10 am to 1 pm due to coronavirus restrictions, according to Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC).

On Tuesday, the Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange closed for five days as the country celebrated Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest festival for Muslims, on Wednesday.

The government has imposed a 14-day strict lockdown from 6 am on Friday (July 23) to noon on August 5 as the coronavirus infection rises at an alarming rate.

The securities regulator decided to continue share trading after the Bangladesh Bank instructed the banks to keep open on a limited scale.
