Stocks flat as large-cap issues tumble

Stock markets on Thursday finished the session of the week flat as the major indices of the both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges showed no significant rise amid lower activities of large-cap securities.
The benchmark index of the Dhaka bourse closed the day with 9.98 points down at 5,517.42, reports BSS.
The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 3.80 points down at 1,973.99 and 0.81 points down at 1,212.16.
Out of 394 issues traded, 215 closed lower, 122 advanced and 57 issues remained unchanged on the DSE floor.
The major gaining issues were MBL1STMF, NATLIFEINS, BEACHHATCH, RELIANCE1 and PHENIXINS.
The major losing companies were SONALIPAPR, ARAMIT, BEACONPHAR, EIL and HRTEX.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with a downward trend with its major CASPI 53.59 points down at 16,006.54.
At CSE, 251 issues were traded. Of those, 63 closed higher and 163 closed lower when 67.07 lakh shares worth Tk 59.68 crore changed hands.
