Stocks maintain gaining streak

Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Thursday also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 31 points or 0.56 percent to settle at 5,615.65, reports BSS.

The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 12.55 points to finish at 2,007.86 and 4.92 points closing at 1,232.43.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Tk 7,106.26 million on the country's premier bourse which was Tk 8,357.25 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 395 issues traded, 207 closed green, 140 in the red and 48 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

ASIATICLAB topped the turnover chart, followed by MALEKSPIN, LOVELLO, ITC and ORIONINFU.

SINOBANGLA was the day's best performer, posting a gain of 9.95 per cent while RUPALIBANK was the worst loser, losing 15.07 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -advancing 98.33 points to settle at 16,051.40 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX gaining 58.92 points to close at 9,664.50.

Of the issues traded, 115 advanced, 84 declined and 23 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city's bourse traded 1.19 crore shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Tk 16.19 crore.
