Price fall in large-cap drives stocks further down

Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – on Tuesday plunged further due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 22.98 points or 0.40 percent to 5738.40, reports BSS.
Two other indices also ended sharply lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 5.61 points to finish at 2,001.72 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 6.31 points to close at 1,245.34.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 3676.60 million, which was Taka 4688.21 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 390 issues traded, 268 declined, 79 advanced and 43 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
ABB1STMF was the day's top gainer, posting 6.98 percent gain while PREMIERLEA was the worst loser, losing 6.12 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 74.42 points to settle at 16437.24 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX shedding 42.96 points to close at 9883.67.
Of the issues traded, 128 declined, 50 advanced and 27 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded 34.20 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Tk 9.97 crore.
