Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe

Stocks on Wednesday witnessed an upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 17.43 points or 0.28 percent to settle at 6,285.25, reports BSS.

Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 6.11 points to finish at 2,108.01 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 4.22 points to close at 1,371.59.

At DSE, out of the day's 345 securities, prices of 141 securities closed higher against 27 losing issues.

The day's trade value at the DSE increased to Taka 5,084.80 million which was Taka 4,953.96 million at the previous session of the week.

The major gaining issues were Emerald Oil, ILFSL, SINOBANGLA, PREMIERLEA and FASFIN while the major losing companies were STANCERAM, JUTESPINN, PUBALIBANK, IMAMBUTTON and WMSHPYARD.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend with its major CASPI 46.14 points up at 18,626.78.

At the CSE, 164 issues were traded. Of those, 69 closed higher and 26 closed lower when 28.18 lakh shares worth Tk 6.58 crore changed hands.
