Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

Country's both the bourses - Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – on Monday plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 20.15 points or 0.32 percent to 6,209.44, reports BSS.

Two other indices also ended sharply lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 4.05 points to finish at 2,101.37 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 4.05 points to close at 1,347.33.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Tk 3,699.61 million, which was Tk 5,491.07 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 290 issues traded, 134 declined, 17 advanced and 139 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

SEAPEAEL topped the turnover chart, followed by KPPL, CENTRALPHL, BDTHAI and FUWANGCER.

MONNOAGML was the day's top gainer, posting 7.50 percent gain while DACCADYE was the worst loser, losing 10.81 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 63.37 points to settle at 18,422.55 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX shedding 38.64 points to close at 11,015.43.

Of the issues traded, 81 declined, 15 advanced and 54 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city's bourse traded 28.70 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Tk 5.38 crore.
