Dhaka, Chg stock exchanges show no significant rise

Stock markets on Wednesday finished the session of the week flat as the major indices of the both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges showed no significant rise amid lower activities of large-cap securities.

The benchmark index of the Dhaka bourse closed the day with 0.83 point up at 6,284.63.

BSS adds: The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 1.85 point up at 2,140.36. But the Shariah DSES closed the day with 0.03 point down at 1,359.60.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Tk 4,223 million which was Tk 4,500.15 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 309 issues traded, 84 declined, 69 advanced and 156 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CITYGENINS continued to top the turnover list, followed by GEMINISEA, APEXFOOT, KBPPWBIL and EHL.

APEXFOODS was the top gainer, posting an 8.73 percent gain while MIRACLEIND was the day's worst loser, losing 6.06 per cent following its corporate declarations.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also slipped into the red with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 3.59 points to settle at 18,580.58 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX - shedding 2.25 points to close at 11,108.05.

Of the issues traded, 61 declined, 33 advanced and 53 issues remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.

The port city's bourse traded 65.53 lakh shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value worth over Tk 50.83 crore.
