Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe

Stocks on Sunday witnessed upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 9.26 points or 0.15 percent to settle at 6,311.29.
BSS adds: Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 6.27 points to finish at 2,140.84 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 2.23 points to close at 1,362.81.
At DSE, out of the day's 326 securities, prices of 63 securities closed higher against 94 losing issues.
The day's trade value at the DSE increased to Tk 8,676.97 million which was Tk 6,970.88 million at the previous session of the week.
The major gaining issues were Republic, Provati Insurance, KARNAPHULI, Northern Insurance and Prime Life while the major losing companies were CONTININS, STANDARINS, Metro Spinning, ASIAPACINS and BNICL.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend with its major CASPI 23.85 points up at 18,650.45.
At the CSE, 166 issues were traded. Of those, 51 closed higher and 52 closed lower when 18.44 lakh shares worth Tk 6.98 crore changed hands.
