The country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – on Sunday plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities, reports Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 8.90 points or 0.14 percent to 6,281.30. Two other indices also ended lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 4.38 points to finish at 2,190.91 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 2.02 points to close at 1,366.23.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, amounted to Tk 8,117.42 million, which was Tk 9,329.11 million at the previous session of the week. 

Out of 363 issues traded, 105 declined, 65 advanced and 193 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

BSC topped the turnover chart, followed by Rupali Life, INTRACO, CLICL and ORIONINFU.

BGIC was the day’s top gainer, posting 9.96 percent gain while MIRACLEIND was the worst loser, losing 6.65 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 10.98 points to settle at 18,519.47 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX shedding 8.68 points to close at 11,085.46.

Of the issues traded, 267 declined, 67 advanced and 94 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city’s bourse traded 4.67 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Tk 16.98 crore.
