Stocks rebound on both bourses

Stocks rebound on both bourses

After witnessing a downward trend in the three sessions, stocks on Tuesday rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.

After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 17.11 points or 0.27 per cent to settle at 6,277.21, reports BSS.

Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 7.54 points to finish at 2,193.37 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 2.34 points to close at 1,368.52.

Daily trade turnover increased to Taka 7442.95 million which was Taka 6539.96 million at the previous session of the week.

Gainers took a strong lead over the losers, as out of 349 issues traded, 96 advanced, 67 declined and 186 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

INTRCO dominated the turnover chart followed by GEMINISEA, BSC, SEAPEARL and PTL.

Meghna Insurance was the day's top gainer, rising 10 per cent, while BRAC Bank was the worst loser, shedding 7.01 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI- gaining 45.85 points to settle at 18481.47 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX- rising 26.32 points to close at 11,063.85.

Of the issues traded, 41 declined, 69 advanced and 87issues remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.

The port city's bourse traded 58.04 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Taka 19.84 crore.
