Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Sunday plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities, reports Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 11.37 points or 0.18 percent to 6,262.69. Two other indices also ended lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 6.15 points to finish at 2,202.42 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 3.07 points to close at 1,359.42.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 6,931.53 million, which was 9,676.92 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 343 issues traded, 44 increased, 98 decreased and 201 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

HEIDELBCEM was the day’s top gainer, posting 22.60 percent gain while APEXFOODS was the worst loser, losing 8.74 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 14.98 points to settle at 18,451.91 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX shedding 10.06 points to close at 11,054.55. 

Of the issues traded, 58 declined, 31 advanced and 117 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city’s bourse traded 16.53 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Taka 6.61 crore.
