Stocks end mixed, turnover drops 37%

The Dhaka bourse ended Thursday’s trade with a mixed tone with indices finishing flat.

DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 7.27 points or 0.12 per cent to settle at 6,265.44. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) closed the day 0.35 point up at 1,367.73. However, the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, closed the day 1.81 points down at 2,208.61.

Of the 361 issues traded, 76 advanced, 100 declined and 185 remained unchanged on the DSE floor.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, plunged to Tk 5,906.80 million on the country's premier bourse which was Tk 9,342.93 million at the previous session of the week.

GENEXIL became the day's turnover leader, followed by AAMRANET, BPML, BSC and ITC.

However, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) edged lower, with the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) losing 8.23 points to settle at 18,476.18 and its Selective Categories Index (CSCX) shedding 4.97 points to close the week at 11,072.35.

The port-city bourse traded 47.37 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Tk 11.45 crore.
