Dhaka stock market began the week on Sunday on a positive note after a fall of three days out of five sessions in the previous week.
Market insiders said the scheduled visit of Bangladesh Bank Governor Abdur Rouf Talukder to a meeting at the BSEC on Monday has induced confidence in investors.
DSEX, was up by 30 points after a few minutes into the trade and the trend continued till filing the report at 12-10 pm when DESX was at 6,552, 40 points higher.
Also, the turnover or the value of the shares to be traded today looks to be higher than in the previous trading session. So far, nearly Tk 900 crore worth of shares have transacted hands.
Orion Pharma, Beximco Limited and JMI Hospital Requisite Manufacturing Limited were the top three traded shares.
But it was the share of International Leasing & Financial Services Ltd that gained the highest and became seller-less within a few minutes into the trade.
It gained 10 percent riding on reports that the company will relaunch operations of PK Halder-associated four companies, a move that ILFSL’s present board thinks would help them recover loans worth Tk 260 crore from the scamster.
