Stock turnover exceeds Tk 500cr in first 45 minutes

Despite inflationary pressure and economic challenges, investors are showing greater interest in the stock market, which has led to a significant rise in the turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) in recent days.

Like the previous few sessions, the DSE started trading on a positive note on Sunday.

In the first 45 minutes into the trade, over Tk 539 crore worth of shares were transacted and the trend shows that it may cross Tk 2,000 crore at the end of the day.

Meanwhile, the benchmark index of DSE, DSEX has increased over 29 points or 0.45 percent to 6,593.

Among other indices, the shariah-based DSES was up by 5.96 points or 0.41 percent and the blue-chip DS-30 rose by 3.70 points or 0.15 percent.

So far Unique Hotel, Orion Pharma, Eastern Housing, Beximco Limited and BSC were the top five traded stocks.

Earlier, on Thursday, DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka bourse, increased by over 12 points or 0.19 percent to settle the day at 6,564.

Among other indices, the shariah-based DSES rose by 0.37 points or 0.02 percent and the blue-chip DS-30 was down by 9.13 points or 0.38 percent.

The DSE had a turnover of over Tk 1,666 crore on the day.
