DSE generates 2nd highest turnover in FY22

Amid uncertainties from the inflation, pandemic, war and floods, the country’s main bourse managed to generate its second-highest turnover in a financial year during 240 sessions of FY22.

In the 2021-22 financial year, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) had a total turnover of more than Tk 3,18,720 crore.

In the history of DSE, the same number of working days of the financial year 2010-11 generated the highest Tk 3,25,091 crore. That year, the average daily turnover in the DSE was Tk 1,357 crore.

The 2021-22 financial year, starting from starting of July 2021 to the end of June 2022, had a total of 240 trading sessions. Turnover on the first day was Tk 1,551 crore, while it was Tk 937 crore on the last day.

During the period, the lowest turnover in DSE was below Tk 400 crore and the highest was above Tk 3,000 crore and the average was Tk 1,328 crore.

In the previous financial year of FY21, the DSE had 241 sessions with a daily average turnover of Tk 1,031 crore. The DSE had a total turnover of Tk 2,48,471 crore that year.

Meanwhile, six companies raised Tk 699.36 crore from the capital market through initial public offerings (IPOs) last year.

In the previous financial year, 16 companies had raised Tk 1,610.87 crore from the capital market through IPOs.

Besides, the regulatory body Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) approved seven companies to raise Tk 5,500 crore from the capital market by issuing bonds.
