BSEC launches official Facebook page

The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has launched a verified Facebook page to prevent manipulators from cheating ordinary investors by spreading rumours through social media.

The page was launched on Thursday, confirmed Mohammed Rezaul Karim, executive director and spokesperson, BSEC.

According to BSEC sources, a group of fraudulent investors spread rumours through social media platforms to influence market behaviour for their own benefit.

To prevent such activities, the regulator has been taking legal actions including arrests and shutting down various Facebook pages.

The official Facebook page has been opened in the name of BSEC to disseminate correct information to the investors and prevent rumours spreading from pages in the name of the regulatory body.
