DSEX suffers biggest single-day fall in a month

Movement of DSEX on Wednesday
Dhaka’s main stock index suffered its biggest daily fall on Wednesday since September 14 amid the growing economic activities as coronavirus cases and deaths have been declining for days.
DSEX, the benchmark index, slumped by 65.42 points to 7,248 after hitting an intraday low of 7,241 on Wednesday. DSEX dropped 78 points on September 14.
Of the blue-chip 30 companies, 24 witnessed a fall, which dragged the market down. LafargeHolcim, ICB, Walton, Power Grid and Square Pharma contributed most in the fall of the index.
However, transactions, in terms of monetary value increased by Tk 90 crore to Tk 1,953 crore on the day.
Fortune Shoes was the most traded share with over Tk 182 crore changing hands, followed by Lafarge with Tk 103 crore and INIF Bank with over Tk 92 crore.
