Stocks maintain gaining streak

Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Monday also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 41.86 points or 0.67 percent to settle at 6,322.60, reports BSS.

The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 8.55 points to finish at 2,133.25 and 5.58 points closing at 1,376.64.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Tk 16,547.83 million on the country's premier bourse which was Tk 15,804.06 million.

Out of 395 issues traded, 261 closed green, 93 in the red and 41remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

ORIONINFU topped the turnover chart, followed by BDTHAI, FUWANGFOOD, KPPL and KARNAPHULI

GIB was the day's best performer, posting a gain of 10 per cent while MIRACLEIND was the worst loser, losing 4.86 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -advancing 187.44 points to settle at 18,032.24 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX gaining 111.5 points to close at 10,794.74.

Of the issues traded, 187 advanced, 72 declined and 33 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city's bourse traded 1.11 crore shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Tk 19.13 crore.
