Stocks maintain gaining streak

Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Thursday also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 9.24 points or 0.15 per cent to settle at 6,233.71. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 3.51 points to finish at 2,106.72 and 1.94 points closing at 1,352.54, reports BSS.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 3,703.80 on the country's premier bourse which was Tk 4,095.86 million at the previous session of the week.
Gainers took a modest lead over the losers, as out of 297 issues traded, 71 closed green, 55 in the red and 171 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
GQBALLPEN was the day's best performer, posting a gain of 9.95 per cent while CAPITECGBF was the worst loser, losing 4.10 percent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -advancing 22.05 points to settle at 18,495.79 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX gaining 12.58 points to close at 11,061.15.
