Stocks extend gaining streak

Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Wednesday witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.
DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 4.32 points or 0.07 per cent to settle at 6,304.88.
BSS adds: The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 3.63 points to finish at 2,137.60. But, the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) closed the day with 0.82 point down at 1,363.44.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, increased to Taka 6,625.45 million on the country's premier bourse which was Taka 5,227.69 million at the previous session of the week.
Of the 319 issues traded, 84 advanced, 73 declined and 162 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Fuwang Food was the most-traded stock, followed by CONTININS, GEMINISEA, CVOPRL and UNIQUEHRL.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also edged higher with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI- rising 14.66 points to settle at 18,631.84 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX- gaining 8.88 points to close at 11,139.46.
Of the issues traded, 47 declined, 56 advanced and 84 issues remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.
The port city's bourse traded 25.90 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth Tk 12.35 crore.
