Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe

Stocks on Wednesday witnessed upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 2.15 points or 0.03 percent to settle at 6,293.14.

BSS adds: Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 1.03 point to finish at 2,139.58 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 0.07 point to close at 1,371.48.

At DSE, out of the day's 303 securities, prices of 73 securities closed higher against 74 losing issues.

The day's trade value at the DSE increased to Tk 4,134.06 million which was Tk 3,915.38 million at the previous session of the week.

The major gaining issues were DAFODILCOM, CENTRALPHL, KPPL, KBPPWBIL and OAL while the major losing companies were MONOSPOOL, GEMINISEA, BDWELDING, MIRACLEIND and ISNLTD.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend with its major CASPI 9.16 points up at 18,614.90.

At the CSE, 140 issues were traded. Of those, 43 closed higher and 36 closed lower when 36.28 lakh shares worth Tk 16.10 crore changed hands.
