British Council is hiring in Head of Education post in its Dhaka office. 

According to the job circular published in its website, the key purpose of this role will be to lead on the implementation of the existing Education portfolio, including English for Education Systems, as well as support business development opportunities across Education in Bangladesh.

The post holder will support the country, regional and global English and Education teams in providing technical support to programme delivery and results reporting. 

The Head of Education will advise on education issues and priorities at a country level contributing to objectives and performance of the Country Plan as well as the regional or global strategies for Education by gathering intelligence, providing technical assistance, addressing implementation issues and arranging policy level engagement with the government of Bangladesh and other partners.

The postholder will line manage up to 4 staff and will deputise for the Director of Education & English as required.



Requirements for the job are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant education subject area

  • At least 5 years’ experience of working in programmes management in education sector including 2 years’ experience in a similar role.

  • 3 years direct line management experience including experience of leading a small team

  • In-depth knowledge of the Bangladesh Education system

  • Monitoring and evaluation experience

  • Building and developing teams

  • Ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children

  • Excellent English and Bangla communication skills (reading, speaking, writing) with English Language at Proficiency Level equivalent to IELTS band score 7.0

Additional Information:

  • Applicants should be Bangladeshi passport holder or legally entitled to work in Bangladesh

  • The role requires occasional national and international travel and unsocial/evening hours working
