Sufi music, Turkish traditional whirling dervishes and Baul songs mesmerised the audience of Dhaka on Monday evening, all thanks to a cultural event organised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) and the Embassy of Turkey.
The Academy and the Embassy jointly organised the evening at Experimental Theatre Hall to celebrate the occasion of Mujib Borsho and the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh's Independence.
Mustafa Osman Turan, Ambassador of Turkey to Bangladesh, joined the event as its guest of honour, while the ceremony was presided over by BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky.
Alongside the Turkish Ambassador, a cultural unit of Turkish artists, including Ishak Urun, Hasan Hekimoğlu, Seyit Sercan Celik and Burak Malcok, joined the cultural evening who enthralled audiences with musical performances, playing Turkish traditional instruments -- ney, oud, and cumbus.
The Turkish dance performers mesmerised the Bangladeshi audiences with their world famous whirling dervishes as well.
From Bangladesh, the Baul and dance troupes of BSA showcased mesmerising Baul songs and Sufi dance performances.
