Govt to groom workers’ skills for better overseas job

The government has decided to enhance the standard of technical education in the country so that more skilled workers could get jobs in the international labour market, officials said on Sunday.
Overseas employment of skilled workers would rise across the globe and as Covid-19 wanes and that Bangladesh could exploit the opportunities by upgrading her technical education, they said.
The decision was shared to a virtual meeting on ‘Improvement of technical education standard at TTCs’, organised by the Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry.
While presiding over the meeting, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad said the government is firmly committed to improve the standard of technical education.
He said such teachings would gradually be expanded across the country, too.
Imran said the government has been working to send skilled workers to the international labour market after providing them proper skills.
He said skilled workers would be able to send more remittances to Bangladesh.
Moderated by EWOE ministry’s secretary Dr Ahmed Munerus Saleheen, the meeting was also addressed by Secretary to technical and madrasa education division, Aminul Islam Khan, National Skill Development Authority chairman, Dulal Krisna Saha, Techical Education department director general, Helal Uddin and Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training director general, Shahidul Alam.
