Defying all coronavirus induced adversities, Bangladeshi expatriates sent over $1.26 billion remittances in the first half of July to their families ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha to be celebrated on July 21

If the flow of the remittance continues, the amount may cross $25 million at the end of the current month, the central projected.

Bangladesh received $3.87 million through Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited and $1.69 million through Dutch Bangla Bank.

While $1.37 million came through Agrani Bank and $0.76 million came through Sonali Bank in the same time.

In the just-ended 2020-21 financial year, the total remittance came $247.77 million while the amount was $182 million in the previous fiscal year.
