The government, for the first time, is going to confer the ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Award’ to boost the private sector industries

The government, for the first time, is going to confer the ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Award’ to boost the private sector industries.

The industry ministry will award 23 business organisations under seven categories like small, middle, big and high-tech entrepreneurs to recognise outstanding contributions to the sector.

Talking to the Business Insider Bangladesh, a top official of the ministry said that the industrialist would be given a gold medal, a replica of the award, a certificate of honour and a cash prize.

Besides, the awardees will be allowed to use the VIP lounge at the airport for the next three years.

The ministry official said the business organisations had been selected through scrutiny by a high-level committee headed by the minister for industry.

He also said the awardees would not be eligible for the next three years for the same award.

The initiative had been taken by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who led the establishment of various industries in the private sector, strengthening the country’s economy that’s why the ministry has decided to introduce the new award.

Four business firms---Square Pharmaceuticals, Jaj Bhuiyan Textile Mills, Adury Apparels and Universal Jeans, Chttogram have been selected for the award under the large industry category.

Auko Tex, Fortune Shoes, Rahimafrooz Renewable Energy and Madhobdi Dyeing Finishing Mills were selected under the medium industry category.

Besides under the small industry category, Aman Plastic Industries, SR Handicrafts, Pabna and Alim Industries, Sylhet have been selected.

M/S Karukola, Jamalpur, Trim-Tex Bangladesh, Dhaka, and Janata Engineering, Chuadanga have been selected under the micro-industry category.

ServicEngine, Super Star Electronics, and Mir Telecom have been selected under the Hi-tech industry category.

Classical Handmade Product BD, Nilphamari, Ayojon Jashore, and Sonagaon Nakhsikatha Mohila Unnayan Sangstha, Naryanganj have been selected under the handicrafts industry category.

Cumilla Arts and Crafts, Cumilla, Rongmela Nari Unnayan Sangstha, Naryanganj, and Agroj, Dhaka have been selected under the cottage industry category.
