A legal notice has been served to authorities of Foodpanda, an online food and grocery delivery platform, seeking Tk 5 lakh as compensation for not providing food after taking order in Bogura.

A Dhaka Judge Court lawyer, Advocate Mohammad, sent the notice on behalf of one Ekram Hossain, who gave an order for two chicken burgers from an eatery namely Foodland at Bogura on May 14 through Foodpanda. Ekram paid the bill while placing the order. But, the food was not delivered, the notice said.

“If the Foodpanda authorities fail to give its explanation by seven days, appropriate legal action will be taken against it,” the notice warned.

Lawyer Mohammad told the Business Insider Bangladesh on Monday that his client gave the order for his son and nephew. But Foodpanda authorities did not provide the food. “Even, they did not communicate with my client,” the lawyer added.

“The children and nephew of my client waited for the food for long and at one stage they fell asleep without having food. Hence, my client sent the legal notice to the country director of Foodpanda at Gulshan.”

“The notice was sent on May 22. We will wait for two to three more days to see if Foodpanda replies to the notice. If we do not get any response, a legal action will be taken against it, the lawyer noted.

Foodpanda is owned by Delivery Hero, which is headquartered in Berlin, Germany and operates with 20 brands in about 50 countries across four continents.
