The government asked all factories, which are allowed to keep open during the new lockdown starting from Wednesday, to provide transportation facilities to the workers so that they can reach workstations without any hassle.
The Cabinet Division on Monday issued a notification in this regard.
According to the instructions, all the factories are allowed to operate during the seven-day all out lockdown, maintaining proper health safety measures.
“The companies have to transport workers with their own vehicles,” it added.
Earlier on Sunday, four leading associations related to garment export urged the government to keep factories open during the lockdown period at a joint press conference.
They said that closing the factories during lockdown can make losses worth millions of US dollars for them.
The exporters also claimed that buyers might shift their orders to other competing countries if the factories in Bangladesh remained closed.
