Next budget to focus on 3 key issues: Finance minister

Dhaka (April 11, 2021): Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said the next budget will focus on three key areas – rural infrastructure, agriculture and health – to boost the growth.

Kamal told this to reporters after a pre-budget discussion held virtually with the economists.

“We have to prepare the budget keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic,” he said.

Asked whether the economists have given any advice on extending the incentive packages, the finance minister said, "We have not been able to bring all under the incentive packages. The economists suggested us that we may consider the duration and scope for the incentive packages as also demanded by the businessmen.”

Replying to another question on black money, Kamal said, "We will take steps to stop the scopes for creating undisclosed money. Besides, we will give the opportunity to those who want to legalise the undisclosed money in a proper way.”
