Deadline for submitting returns by individual taxpayers extended by 2 months

The deadline for submitting income tax returns by the individual taxpayers has been extended by another two months till January 31, 2024.
However, the deadline for submitting of income tax returns by the companies has been extended till February 28, 2024.
A circular of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), signed by its 2nd secretary Md Mohidul Islam Chowdhury, on Wednesday said that the deadline for submitting income tax returns in the 2023-2024 tax year has been extended in public interest, reports BSS.
The deadline for submitting income tax returns by the individual taxpayers was supposed to end on November 30 while that of the companies' taxpayers on January 15, 2024.
Earlier, the country's apex trade body the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) demanded for increasing the deadline for submitting returns by one month till December 31, 2023.
The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and Dhaka Taxes Bar Association, however, demanded for raising the deadline for submitting income tax returns by two months.
