Bangladesh economy heading towards a good transition: BB

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has claimed that the economy is heading towards a very good transition due to the pragmatic measures of the government to rebound the economy from Covid-19 and the Ukraine-Russia war impacts.

Md Mezbaul Haque, executive director and spokesperson of the BB, told reporters during a briefing on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, BB Governor Abdur Rouf Talukder and former adviser to the caretaker government Dr Wahiduddin Mahmud held a meeting at the central bank headquarters in in Dhaka.

While sharing the outcome of the meeting, Haque said, "We are going through a very difficult time. We are taking initiatives promptly and implementing these. We are working following suggestions from all concerned."

As controlling inflation is essential to solve the country's economic crisis, he said, BB has decided to discuss with renowned persons of different sectors for controlling it.

"The next monetary policy will be prepared as per their suggestions. Despite the global crisis, we have kept it under control better than other countries," he added.

In the future, he informed that BB will also discuss with more economists, the Economic Reporters' Forum (ERF), different trade bodies and many others.
