National Furniture Fair begins in city on Oct 6

Known as a top apparel exporting country, Bangladesh is also thriving in furniture shipment. Furniture makers shipped $190.36 million worth of furniture from Bangladesh in fiscal 2021-2022, up 38.87 percent from the previous financial year.
Currently, Bangladesh’s furniture is being shipped to India, Nepal, the USA, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and European Union countries, respectively.
The information was shared at a virtual press meet organised by the Bangladesh Furniture Industry Owners Association (BFIOA) on Saturday. The Association said they are inaugurating the 17th National Furniture Fair on the 6th of October, this year.
Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun MP, Minister of Industry ministry will be the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the fair.
The fair will take place at the International Convention City of Bashundhara Residential Area, in the capital. Some 182 stalls from 34 companies will take part in the fair. Giant furniture makers like Hatil, Akhtar, Navana, Partex, Regal, Nadia and Brothers will also glorify the exposition.
BFIOA Chairman Salim H Rahman, Secretary General Md Elias Sarkar, Vice Chairman, Alhajj Sheikh Abdul Awal and Organising Secretary A Karim Mazumdar were present at the virtual press conference.
