Chinese company to invest $12mm in Ishwardi EPZ

Chinese company Ms Qinda Outdoor (BD) Company Limited is going to set up a tent, sleeping bag and bag manufacturing industry in Ishwardi Export Processing Zone (IEPZ).

This fully foreign-owned company will invest $12 million (Tk 121 crore), said a press release.

This factory will produce annually 2 million (20 lakh) pieces of tent, canopy, bag, sleeping bag, back pack, tarpaulins, awnings, mosquito net, portable folding chair, recycle bin and umbrella.

Ms Qinda Outdoor (BD) says it will create employment opportunities for 2,973 Bangladeshi nationals.

An agreement to this effect was signed on Tuesday between the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and Qinda Outdoor (BD) at BEPZA Complex in the city.

Ali Reza Mazid, member (investment promotion) of BEPZA, and Zhang Yan, representative of Qinda Outdoor, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective ends.

BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman witnessed the signing ceremony.

Among others, BEPZA Member (Engineering) Mohammad Faruque Alam, Member (Finance) Nafisa Banu, Executive Director (Administration) Md Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, Executive Director (Public Relations) Nazma Binte Alamgir, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) Md Tanvir Hossain and Executive Director (Enterprise Services) Md Khorshid Alam were present during the signing ceremony.
