The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) continued to rally on Wednesday after setting the highest transaction record in seven months the previous day.

With the latest rally, the key index of the Dhaka bourse, DSEX, advanced for the sixth straight day.

The turnover on DSE increased further on Tuesday, making it the highest since January 10.

A collapse that was seen in the capital market on the news of scheduled load shedding to save energy, the decision to reduce office time and increase the weekly holiday in educational institutions by one day did not create any panic.

After the fear of an economic crisis began to subside, the capital market began to gradually rise from the first working day of last week.

The DSEX increased by 92 points in three working days of that week and 18 points on the first working day of this week, 40 points on the second day and 15 points on the third day.

With these, the index increased by 167 points in six working days.

Trading in the stock market started on Tuesday with most of the share prices and indices rising. The transaction speed was also quite good from the beginning.

Accordingly, at the end of the day, the benchmark index increased by over 15 points or 0.24 percent to settle the day at 6,315.

Among other indices, the shariah-based DSES rose by 7.59 points or 0.55 percent and the blue-chip DS30 was up by 18.02 points or 0.80 percent.

The DSE had a turnover of Tk 1,487.44 crore, which was about Tk 10 crore more than the previous session.

The pharmaceuticals and chemicals sector rose to the top position in terms of transactions. The total turnover in this sector was Tk 245.76 crore, which was 16.95 percent of the total turnover.

The textile sector was at the second position with Tk 229.09 crore turnover, followed by miscellaneous sector at Tk 182.65 crore.

Shares of the 381 companies were traded on the day, of which 123 firms gained, 169 issues lost and 89 companies remained unchanged.

Shares of Beximco Limited were the most-traded by value on the DSE as its shares worth Tk 108.27 crore were traded on the day.

Orion Pharma, which was the second most-traded stock, had a turnover of Tk 93.75 crore followed by Olympic Industries, BSC, Delta Life, LafargeHolcim, BATBC, Eastern Housing, Metro Spinning and IPDC Finance.

Meanwhile, the overall index CASPI of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) increased over 58 points to 18,570 and securities worth Tk 43.03 crore were traded on the day.
